Which panels do we recommend? - ALL of them.

All of these panels are excellent and you have a 99.9% chance of never having a fault with any of them over at least the first 25 years of rooftop operation.

They are all made in China except REC (Singapore), Q.Cells Duo+ and LG (South Korea).

After 25 years, the P's type celled panels are expected to be making 80-85% of their original output, and the 'N's a bit over 90%. You pay substantially more for 'N' type celled panels and also apparently for German engineering (Q.Cells).

Leapton are a Japanese company and in Asia are considered quite a premium brand, so we can not explain why Australia is currently getting them so cheaply.

There are others, Astronergy, Link, Seraphim that are also around the zero dollar mark.

JinKo is the most popular brand we sell. World's largest manufacturer, and priced well for both their 'P' type and 'N' type celled panels.

Which inverters do we recommend?- Again ALL of them are just fine..

Huawei is the overall best all-rounder. Battery inverter, best reporting software, best looking, best warranty, most reliable, best 24 x 7 support for all your questions.

Goodwe have really good battery inverters, Growatt a bit under-powered (3kW charge/discharge)

Fronius. Wait until they release their new battery inverter. The current models are old tech (since 2013).

SMA, German company, Chinese made inverter, so don't get fooled by the whole 'It's German' thing.

Phase
If your home has a three phase electricity meter, then you need a three phase inverter.

(or 2 x single phase, e.g. 2 x 2.5kW, or 3kW + 2kW). (SM) indicates this inverter supports a 'Smart Meter' for reporting on consumption as described further down this page

Warranty
5 year parts and labour, plus a bonus 5 years parts only is standard (that's what 5 + 5 above means). Huawei give 10 years parts AND labour as standard, with an extra 5 years parts and labour warranty for $300 or 20 years parts and labour for $600.

Hybrid (Battery)

Any of the above inverters marked 'No' in the Hybrid column cannot ever directly connect a battery for storage and night time use. They only manage the solar panels. A hybrid inverter does two jobs, managing the solar panels AND storing and releasing battery power. This is what is commonly called 'DC Coupling'.

If you buy a non hybrid inverter then you can buy a second inverter (sometimes hidden away inside the battery cabinet) that connects to your switchboard. This is called 'AC Coupling'.

If you buy a hybrid then you really have the best of both World's. You can choose to 'DC Couple' whichever batteries the hybrid is designed to work with now and in the future (new battery support is all achieved with firmware upgrades) , or else you can choose to 'AC Couple' something different like a Telsa Powerwall if that is a better fit for you, come the time.

Smart meters
In the list above those market with (SM) in the Phase column support an optional smart meter. These meters are installed in your switchboard typical with CTs clamped around your phase cable (s). They report in real-time the flow of electrical current in both directions so that the inverter can then produce a detailed analysis for you in the reporting software.

For example, in the picture below, in this case from a Huawei smart meter, we can see the red line is showing power bought from Synergy. The green line is the solar production and the blue line is self consumption of the solar in the house. The difference between the green and the blue is export. (Power sold back to Synergy for 7.135 cents per kWh FiT)

Inverter "Smart Meters"

Measure and report on power consumption in the house, and with

hybrid inverters, are what the inverter uses to know when to store

surplus solar power in the batteries, or else release battery power.

They are also needed if 'export limiting' is required.
Growatt smart meter is included with their battery inverters but
price below is for the TL-X non battery inverter.
